Blogging may be another way of writing a memoir. At least, it strikes this blogger like that. I’m not saying it will take the place of traditional memoir, but it serves a similar function. In this blog, I keep referring to things that happened in childhood, experiences living in New York as a young person, life as a newly married woman and mother. These are not in sequential order, as usually found in memoir, but pop up uexpectedly, on the spur of the moment, with a spontaneity and urgency lacking in memoir writing. . It becomes a new form of confession.
Perhaps it’s the memoir of our younger generations. People are all about fast. Blogs serve up slices of memoir every day. And it’s just long enough to keep their attention.
